Once on a platform
Many years ago, I’ve documented my first postapocalyptic larp – The World after the fall. I haven’t been to any such larp since, until now. Once on a platform is kind of a sequel based in the same setting, but it wasn’t exactly a larp, but more of a postapocalyptic festival. And from my point of view a very successful one. It brought together a lot of people who wouldn’t otherwise meet at all, or only occasionally at larps. Simply – Petrius had a great idea and we should be thankful to him.
There were some lectures, for example one from the Chernobyl guide, one about costume manufacturing and another about food (I can attest that both cockroaches and rats are tasty). In the evening we’ve seen a Jugger tournament, a bazaar and a few music performances. During the whole event many of the organizers presented what postapocalyptic larps they’re planning and I’ve even managed to add some to my calendar.
Juggers are worth their own paragraph. Not only because most of the pictures are of them, but also because this time there was an international participant in the tournament – Cris. I know that Jugger is played in many countried (I’ve seen it in Italy at the Battle for Vilegis), but until now I didn’t know it was played also in Spain. The game itself is inspired by the movie The Salute of the Jugger and it seems in the Czech Republic it is played very roughly, compared to the rest of Europe.
