The Battle of the Five Armies
It was a very long time between my visit to Battle of the Five Armies 2015 and the last one I’ve visited before. If I remember correctly I was 1999. It would be a very, very long list of things that changed in the meantime, and there is no need for that. But I will point out one of them – in the last century we were wearing jeans, white t-shirts and were having camouflage canvases as cloaks – yep it changed a lot.
Both of my previous visits were an end of a period. Twice it was last game of the organization team. I don’t think it was my doing, just a coincidence 🙂
I’ve got the feeling that the organization of the game was much more efficient this year, and even the game looked more pleasantly. But I wasn’t a participant of the even in the usual meaning of the word, so it’s not my place to evaluate it, I was just a photographer (even if the one they invited).
How did it looked through a photographer eyes…
Yes, I’m a photographer and I view it from a different angle of view. It matters to me, if the environment is visually appealing, if it isn’t static and if there aren’t pointless downtimes. I’m usually a happy penguin when I know what will happen and where (and if I have this info in advance and have enough time to move there). If it even happens that there is enough light, I have thing to eat and drink… well I don’t have anything I can complain against.
But… there wasn’t enough light for the opening scenes – but yes, it improved the player experience and atmosphere. And to be honest it’s more important than some pictures. I’m not complaining, I have few pictures from the Elven opening scene. OK, there are no pictures from the luminescent forest that we went through (and I was using ridiculously high ISO but it still wasn’t enough), it will remain only in the memories of the players who were there,.
We’ve been through unbearable heat and apocalyptic rain
The weather was crazy, it changed so much and so quickly I almost didn’t believed it. From the grueling heat wave to the sudden storm, just a snowstorm was missing.
Unfortunately I don’t have photographs from the whole event. I did eat something that I shouldn’t and I was forced to leave during the Sunday morning. To make it more complicated and to deliver the photographs later than usually I went to a long business trip that same Sunday evening, but it’s finally here.
